Our Folk Dance Club

Are you interested in English folk and country dancing? Do you live within range of Shoreham, West Sussex? Then the long-established Shoreham Folk Dance Club could be for you. Why not join us for a fun evening of dancing? You will be assured of a friendly welcome at our Monday evening club nights The dances are explained before we do them, and if you don't know the moves, experienced dancers will show you what to do. We also hold dances some with live music, on Saturday evenings in March, April and October together with other events including Sunday Afternoon Cream Tea dances in May and October, and a yearly residential dance weekend.

What is English Folk Dancing?

You have seen it on the Jane Austen movies! The English country dance developed around 1650, but new dances are still being written today. The dancers form a group called a set and perform figures which create patterns to the music. To see what it looks like, go to YouTube.


The club is meeting on 29th April, 13th and 20th May 2019. No meetings on 6th and 27th May. Thereafer we plan to meet each Monday until 19th August inclusive.
